Back to topYour Story: Couples Clutter Cutter
My girlfriend and I have this agreement set up where if we buy something new, we need to remove one item from our apartment (and either sell it or donate it). When we first moved in together, our closets were always packed to the brim with stuff we had no use for. What’s worse, we kept buying more! Finally, after realizing what we had stored wasn’t really aligned with our square footage, we pledged to work together to end the clutter. We sold off some of the big items (and made some spending cash) and prioritized the other stuff. It was truly a lesson in compromise—lots of “do we really need this?” But, I’m happy to say that cutting out the extra made us closer.
Now if we want to get a new DVD or kitchen gadget, we make ourselves go through our stash as a unified, clutter-cutting team!
