My husband and I have been married for six years and have two children, two dogs and two jobs. Needless to say, finances and time spent together are our two biggest issues. Actually, if it weren’t for those two big issues, we’d be perfect! After a few years of bickering, we came to the conclusion that we needed a new approach to our spending habits and agreed that all of our big-ticket, fun purchases had to benefit both of us and had to be something that we could enjoy together.So maybe he’s deprived of his dream BMW...and maybe I don’t carry my daily essentials in a beautiful Prada. BUT! We splurge on things we can experience as a couple...one fancy romantic restaurant every month...a few romantic weekend getaways each year... season’s tickets for our favorite team...600 thread-count sheets...you get the idea. We have found that when we keep each other in mind with our spendier items, we both win.
